What Makes a Fabric Pet and Family Friendly?

Not all fabrics are equal when it comes to daily life. The ones that hold up best share a few key qualities:

Tight weaves — a close, dense weave gives pet claws less to catch on and makes surface cleaning far easier. Our heavy weaves are particularly well suited here.

Velvet — surprisingly resilient — this surprises most people, but a good quality velvet is one of the most practical fabric choices for pet owners. Hairs sit on the surface rather than embedding in the weave, meaning they brush away cleanly. Our velvets are also highly resistant to pilling.

Natural fibres — our linen and heavy linen options are naturally robust, breathable, and only improve with age. They don't trap odours, don't attract static, and develop a beautiful lived-in quality over time.

What to avoid — loosely looped fabrics like some bouclés can snag on claws. If you have particularly energetic pets, we'd steer you toward a tighter weave or velvet instead.
